YHS 1971 Reunion
The Yorktown ’71 50th-Year High School Reunion Is Postponed
You’ve followed the same grim news as we have. The Delta variant has not let up to anywhere near the extent we had hoped for a few weeks ago. Hence your committee has reluctantly determined that we must postpone the reunion we had long scheduled for Oct. 9. As we stated during our previous, more upbeat, message, if the health and safety situation imposed by COVID called for holding a reunion in which everyone must wear masks, we would instead postpone it.
The new plan, now arranged with the Knights of Columbus and our other contractors, is to hold the event on Saturday, June 11, 2022. The same Saturday morning tour of the school and Friday night bar meet-up will be similarly rescheduled.
We do feel bad about those of you who invested in airfare, and we hope the airlines will give you credit since the change in schedule is COVID-based. For those of you who sent in checks, please trust us to maintain careful records and keep the money in our account (though if you have special circumstances or know you can’t attend the newly scheduled June 11 event, we’re happy to arrange individual refunds).
These are troubled times we live in. (The YHS class of ’70 also just rescheduled, again choosing a date a week earlier than our planned event next June.) But under the new arrangement, we feel confident we can all look forward to the more normal, and joyful, event we all deserve.
